Our founder, Elijah Peacock (pictured with his wife Rebecca), moved from Cambridge, England and settled in Chicago in 1837. The very same year, he opened the doors to the House of Peacock, selling clocks and watches. CD Peacock has the distinction of being the first registered business, as well as the first jeweler, in Illinois. Elijah took out his first newspaper print ad in 1841, making CD Peacock also the oldest continuous jewelry advertiser in America.
In 1843, Mr. Peacock famously sold a handful of personal real estate to fund the public Indiana and Michigan Canal, paving the way for Chicago to expand in both size and population. Peacock’s notable clients during this time included Mrs. Abraham Lincoln and Chicago business legend Marshall Field. As the company’s reputation grew, Mr. Peacock handed the reins to his son Charles Daniel (CD) Peacock, who changed the name from House of Peacock to CD Peacock.
Today, CD Peacock continues to be a family-owned business which shows in our personal touch and dedication to our customers. Mr. Seymour Holtzman (pictured with his wife Evie) purchased CD Peacock in 1993, ushering in a new chapter in the store’s history. Ever striving for excellence, Seymour brought his unique expertise and passion for watches to the business. Before the turn of the millennium in 2000, CD Peacock earned the distinction of becoming an Official Rolex Jeweler.
Three generations of Holtzmans work at the family business and are highly involved within the Rolex showrooms. The family can often be found at our stores engaging with clients, many of whom are second and third-generation customers.
Rolex Showroom at Woodfield Mall
One of CD Peacock’s two Rolex showrooms is in Schaumburg at the Woodfield Mall, the largest shopping destination in Illinois. Our Woodfield Rolex showroom, conveniently located at the center of the mall, provides an intimate and elegant setting to highlight the world of Rolex.
Spacious and airy, our showroom’s design features the timeless Rolex aesthetic and radiates the values of the Rolex crown. Distinctive wood paneled walls and signature green accents create the ideal environment to experience Rolex. Leather-lined showcases with bronze trim luxuriously display the Rolex timepieces.
Clients have access to a dedicated lounge, allowing for privacy and comfort when selecting a timepiece.. Each of our specially trained sales associates has a vast knowledge of the Rolex collection and would be delighted to share the Rolex experience with you. Customers are treated like friends and receive a warm welcome when visiting our store.
